Nursing Personnel are recruiting ODPs (operating department practitioner) for agency ODP jobs across the UK. We are an NHS approved nursing agency on all nursing NHS Framework Agreements. This means Nursing Personnel can offer you continuity of work when and where you need it.

As an ODP (operating department practitioner), you will work across three main areas within the operating theatre; anaesthetics, surgery and recovery. You will be responsible for preparing the environment and all of the necessary instruments and equipment in readiness for an anaesthetic, surgery or recovery of patients.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing, compassionate, high quality safe care whilst working in an acute fast-paced environment. Patient safety and good practice depends not just on highly performing surgeons’, but also on effective surgical team working that enhances the performance of the team and results in good patient outcomes. You will therefore, also need excellent communication, organisational and problem solving skills.
As an ODP, you will be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and on registration you’ll have the protected title of Registered Operating Department Practitioner.
ODPs should have the following skill sets:

Be able to work well as part of a team.
Have good communication skills.
Remain calm under pressure.
Be efficient and reliable, with a methodical approach to work.
Pay attention to detail.
Have good observational skills for noticing changes in a patient’s condition.
Be able to gain the trust of colleagues and patients.
Be able to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Have technical aptitude for working with machines.
Have good hand skills for using surgical instruments.
ODPs must meet the below:
ODPs must be registered with the HPC (Health Professional Council)
At least 6 months clinical experience in an operating theatres.
Have right to work in the UK
