About Learning Difficulty Nurses

Learning difficulty nurses help improve the wellbeing of adults and children with a range of learning difficulties, working with families and in settings such as hospitals.

They achieve this by improving their patient's independence, confidence and mental/physical health. If you are a nurse looking to work in this area, please look at the guidelines below before applying:

  • Registered nurse with valid NMC pin
  • Excellent understanding of learning difficulty conditions
  • Relevant clinical experience (at least 1 year)
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Time management skills
  • Friendly, patient and confident
  • May be required to lead teams of support workers
