Nursing Personnel are recruiting nursing agency acute assessment unit (AAU) nurses for AAU acute assessment unit nurse jobs across the UK. We are an NHS approved nursing agency on all nursing NHS Framework Agreements. This means Nursing Personnel can offer you continuity of work when and where you need it.

The Acute Assessment Unit provides rapid assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with urgent medical and surgical conditions. The unit is sometime called EAU (emergency assessment unit or acute admissions unit). It is a short stay unit and often a back room to the accident and emergency department. It also enables patients with acute conditions to be closely observed by an expert multi professional team, reducing the pressure on A&E. More than 40% of patients will complete their care within the AAU, thus maintaining continuity of care for many, and promoting specialty-based care for those requiring longer hospital admissions. Patients admitted to the unit will be seen by a consultant normally within 8 hours—the majority much sooner. The AAU operates 24/7 and accepts patients from A&E, consultant clinics and by GP referral. The AAU is staffed by a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, therapists, pharmacists and other allied health professionals so patients can access the most appropriate treatment as quickly as possible.
Senior staff in an AMU typically include a consultant in general medicine, emergency medicine, or critical care. Often a registrar in general medicine, and a ward sister or a charge nurse have roles in the unit. A number of staff nurses work alongside the senior staff to provide care to patients in the unit. The department can also include pharmacists, who carry out duties such as medical history taking.

Nurses must meet the below:
Nurses must be registered with the NMC
